App Director Release Notes - Version 1.1
App Director is being distributed as shareware. See the file
SHARENOT.WRI for an explanation of the shareware concept.
App Director is a Windows application launch utility that contains both
a powerful desktop menu system and an application launch system. With
it, you can launch applications whenever Windows starts up, or at a
specified date and/or time.
You can use App Director to launch those applications you use most
frequently whenever Windows starts up. You can also set-up
applications (such as back-up programs) to run unattended on a
predetermined day and time or run programs on a given date and time.
The desktop menu is user configurable and supports one level of
sub-menu items. It has several built-in functions, including a
powerful Run Application dialog with history.
This program is rich in features, and uses dialog boxes to simplify
the process of building a user menu or list of applications to launch.
App Director fully supports associated files. It can also be used
as your shell, if you so desire.
See the App Director Help file for further information.

Installation
------------
After decompressing the distribution file, either to a dedicated
sub-directory or a directory with other Windows programs, simply
run APPDRT.EXE from Windows.
App Director has its own built in installation procedure. When you
run the program for the first time, it will ask you if you wish to
install it. The installation part of the program modifies your
WIN.INI and/or SYSTEM.INI files, but will back-up your existing
files before modification. App Director will also offer to create
a default menu for you. AnĂ¡automatic de-installation procedure
has been provided as well, should you need it. Use Help for App
Director to find out about it. Help is available from the system
menu and from most of the dialog boxes in the program.
If you want to try App Director without running the installation
procedure, you can cancel the installation at the first
installation dialog box and start using the program. Alternately,
you can run App Director with the -i command line argument, which
will suppress the installation procedure.
Usage
-----
Probably the easiest way to learn to use App Director is to use
the Help provided with the application.
App Director requires Windows 3.0 or later and it will only run in
the 386 Enhanced Mode and Standard Mode of Windows. Real Mode is
not supported at this time.
